Lado Kralj
Associate Professor
- Short Biography
- Born in Slovenj Gradec, March 27th 1938. B.A. in 1956 at the
University of Ljubljana at the Comparative Literature and English
Departments. Ph.D. in 1986 at the University of Ljubljana; his thesis
was The Term "Expressionism" in German and Slovene Literary
Science. In years 1959-61 he worked as a theatre journalist for
Slovene radio and televison. In 1967-71
he was Assistant Professor at the AGRFTV (Academy of
Theatre, Film, Radio and Television). In 1970 he was one of the
founders and the first art director of the Slovene fringe theatre
Glej, in 1970-71 he worked with Prof. Richard Schechner as his
assistant at Drama Department of New York University and also in his
New York based fringe theatre Performance Group (1971-77).
In years 1971-78 he was Assistant Professor at the Comparative
Literature Department. Then he became the art director of the National
Theatre in Ljubljana and worked there until 1982. The following five
years he spent as a free launcher, in 1987 he returned to the Comparative
Literature Department and in 1992 he became Associate Professor.

Joe Orton, Sam Shepard, Tom Stoppard, Botho Strauss, George Tabori etc.
